On 26th November 2024, the School of Architecture and Design, Faculty of Design, Manipal University Jaipur, hosted a seminar and workshop on "Building Better Hospitals: Patient-Centred Design", focusing on healthcare architecture's specialized domain. The event, led by Ar. Vikas Wadhwa, Principal Architect at Prayag Architectural Consultants, emphasized patient-centric approaches in hospital design, prioritizing safety, comfort, and functionality. Through expert-led discussions and interactive sessions, 3rd Year B.Arch. students explored principles like spatial organization, natural lighting, ventilation, and sustainable practices. Topics included infection control, accessibility, and the integration of advanced building technologies to create healing environments. The event aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), preparing students to address real-world challenges in modern healthcare systems. By bridging academic knowledge and professional insights, the session equipped future architects with practical skills for designing resilient, innovative, and patient-centred hospitals.
