NCC

The NCC (National Cadet Corporation) provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities with a distinct emphasis on social services discipline and adventure training. The NCC is open to all regular students at university and colleges on a voluntary basis. The students of NCC have no liability for active military service. An Air Wing Troop of NCC is active in the Manipal University Jaipur which includes Senior Division and Senior Wing cadets. Cadets enrolled are given institutional training and can participate in adventure activities, community development programmes, various national level and annual training camps, and cultural activities etc.

Objectives of NCC

  • To develop character, commandership, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the country
  • To create a human resource of organised, trained, and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life and always available for the service of the nation
  • To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces

Camps

Every year NCC cadets selected and attend at least 1 training camp. Different training camps like CATC ( Combined Annual Training Camp)ATC (Annual Training Camp) TSC (Thal sena Camp ), AAC (Army Attachment Camp), VSC(Vayu Sainik Camp) NIC (National Integration Camp) ,RDC (Republic Day Camp), Adventure and Trekking Camps are arranged by Group Head Quarters all over the India

  1. Adventure Activities:
  2. NCC Cadets can do adventures activities like hiking, river crossing, rock climbing, horse riding, parasailing, paragliding, cycling, motorcycling, Vehicle Expedition Rallies and Camel Safari.

  3. YEP (Youth Exchange Programme):
  4. If the NCC Cadet good personality and excellent communication skill he can get selected for YEP where he get an opportunity to visit abroad and communicate with other nations NCC cadets.

  5. Social Activities:
  6. With NCC training cadets also has to do social activities like blood donation, tree plantation, duties during Ganpati Utsav, Elections, Polio Organisation and Traffic Control.

  7. ‘B’ & ‘C’ certificate:
  8. After completion of 2 years and at least 1 camp cadet can appear for ‘B’ Certificate Examination and after completion of 3 years and at least 2 camps cadet can appear for ‘C’ Certificate Examination.

Benefits of NCC:

  1. Vacancies as under are reserved for commission in the Defence Services for the NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders.
    1. Army: -
    2. IMA Dehradun. 64 vacancies every year through UPSC and SSB interview. OTA Chennai: - 100 vacancies every year for Short Service Commission (Non-Tech) No UPSC exam only SSB interview.

    3. Navy: -
    4. 06 Vacancies per course. No UPSC exam only SSB interview. Two-year age relaxation for NCC ‘C’ certificate holders.

    5. Indian Air Force: -
      1. 10 % in all courses including flying training courses. No UPSC exam only SSB interview.
      2. For Other Ranks, Sailors, Airmen 5% to 10% bonus marks awarded for recruitment for NCC ‘A’ ‘B’ & ‘C’ certificate holders.
  2. Paramilitary Forces: - 2 to 10 bonus marks awarded for recruitment.
  3. Department of Telecommunication: - Bonus marks awarded for recruitment.
  4. NCC. Civilian Gliding Instructors / Girl Cadet Instructor / Whole Time Lady Officer.
  5. State Government. Preference for State Services and reservation of seats for higher educational studies in certain states.
  6. Industry. Many Industries give preference to NCC ‘C’ cert holders for various jobs.
