The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication conducted a guest lecture on "TV Journalism and Anchoring" on Thursday, 26th September 2024. The aim of the lecture was to provide students with a deeper understanding of on-ground reporting and familiarize them with the practical aspects of a journalist's work.
The session was attended by the 3rd semester BA (J&MC) students. Dr. Faika Mohan Nahak, Director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Mahesh Dadhich, and invited him to share his insights on the field.
During the lecture, Mr. Dadhich shared his professional journey in TV journalism, discussing the challenges and rewards of live anchoring and on-ground reporting. He emphasized the critical importance of reliable sources for journalists, underscoring how the credibility and accuracy of news depend on well-verified information. He further elaborated on several technical aspects of TV journalism, such as delivering a powerful "piece to camera" (PTC), utilizing "anchor visual bites," and ensuring effective communication with the audience through voice modulation and body language.
Mr. Dadhich's practical insights on the technicalities and ethical dimensions of TV journalism were invaluable to the students, offering them a deeper understanding of the skills required to thrive in the dynamic and fast-paced world of broadcast journalism.
