Prof. (Dr) Niti Nipun Sharma has been associated with Manipal Group for more than 9 years. Dr. Sharma completed his BE (Mechanical Engg.) from REC, Srinagar (now NIT, Srinagar) and ME (Mechanical Engg.) & PhD from BITS, Pilani.
Dr Sharma started his career as Lecturer in 1997 and moved on serving at various academic and administrative positions. Prior to joining Manipal University Jaipur, he was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Dean, Academics – Registration and Counselling at BITS, Pilani. He was also a visiting Professor in EPFL, Switzerland from May-August 2014. He joined Manipal University Jaipur in July 2017 and served as Pro Vice-Chancellor for almost 6 years during which Manipal University Jaipur has shown substantial growth and academic rankings nationally and internationally in NIRF and Times Higher Education. During the tenure at MUJ he has also served as Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dean Faculty of Arts & Law and in-charge Dean Faculty of Design. Dr. Sharma has also worked with Manipal Academy of Higher Education as Pro Vice Chancellor - Strategy & Planning from Feb 2023 to July 2024.
A scientist at the core, Dr Sharma published over 150 technical papers in peer-reviewed high-impact factor journals and National & International conferences, around three dozen invited/keynote talks in India and abroad and with ten funded projects from nodal agencies like the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), University Grants Commission (UGC), CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, National Program on Micro and Smart Systems (NPMASS) and Industries. He is a Guest Editor of the Journal of Bionanoscience (Springer), Associate Editor of the International Journal of Smart Sensors and Intelligent Systems. He collaborated with senior scientists in MEMS and Nanotechnology area at CEERI, Pilani, IISc Bangalore and IIT Bombay.
He was adjudged best of the best faculty at BITS and was awarded with citation the First recipient of the Kris Ramachandran Best Faculty Award in 2010 at BITS, Pilani. And he was given a Public Felicitation in 2013 by Ramakrishna Mission for his contribution to Science and Engineering.
